Introduction

StorSimple offers a simple-to-use data protection dashboard that is integrated in the solution. This is available through a web interface or as a snap-in for the Microsoft Management Console (MMC). The console is optimized to offer the best-of-both-worlds - the instant scale and data protection of the cloud with on-premises performance. The StorSimple Data Restore Console (SDRC) add the ability to perform item level restores. .

StorSimple Features and Benefits

StorSimple offers a unified solution for data protection and Disaster Recovery with unique patent pending technology. The following backup technologies – Snapshot, Cloud Snapshot and Cloud Clones - are typically used in combination with one another:

	Snapshot Instant, deduplicated and compressed Snapshots can be stored on the solution. These Snapshots are application- and crash-consistent.
	Cloud Snapshot – Snapshot + The Cloud A Cloud Snapshot copies all of the blocks to the cloud with AES-256 encryption. In the case of a disaster the Cloud Snapshot is available from the cloud to the local data center or a system in another location.
	Cloud Clone – Cloud Snapshot + Isolated Cloud Copy A Cloud Clone is similar to a cloud snapshot in that all of the blocks of content are copied to the cloud. The difference is that they are written to a separate geography enabling protection from cloud data center disasters.
	Space Efficient Storage All Snapshots benefit from Copy Reference on Write (CROW), deduplication and compression technology. This results in snapshots that are up to 95% smaller. It is now simple and cost-effective to retain as many snapshots as you want – no more 30, 60 or 90 day limits.
	High Performance Incremental Snapshots Snapshots, Cloud Snapshots and Cloud Clones are all incremental. Only changed blocks and meta-data since the last backup need to be copied to the cloud resulting in high-performance cloud backup even on very large multi-terabyte volumes.
	Fast Cloud Snapshot Restore Cloud Snapshots can be quickly mounted for near instantaneous restore, only requiring meta-data to be pulled to the solution.
	VSS Integration Microsoft Volume Shadow Copy Services (VSS) ensures that VSS-compliant applications are in a quiesced state when a snapshot of one or many application-related volumes is taken.  StorSimple’s VSS integration is available in the StorSimple Data Protection MMC snap-in and supports Microsoft SharePoint, SQL, and Exchange, and generic NTFS volumes.
	Simple Scheduling StorSimple’s Data Protection Manager provides a single interface by which highly flexible schedules can be managed including: hourly, daily, weekly, monthly, quarterly and annual schedules. The intuitive task scheduler supports virtually any schedule necessary including regulatory scheduling requirements.
