Very interesting article on Network World, discussing a survey performed by CommVault who has been very successful in the data protection space. Their survey indicates that half of storage customers are considering use of cloud storage services to help with disaster recovery, replace/augment/simplify data protection infrastructure, reduce costs, and take advantage of flexible pricing models.
What is your take? Is your organization considering use of cloud storage services? What are your primary use cases? What are the issues you're the most concerned about with such an approach? Are there alternative approaches that you have or are currently considering? We'd love to get your feedback.

Does this signal the end of FC and FCoE? Highly unlikely, as FC is widely deployed and entrenched into today's data center architectures. However, this does show that over the past eight years (has iSCSI really been around that long?!) iSCSI has matured and evolved, and now provides a cost-competitive alternative. While it took many additional years, the predictions of "iSCSI becoming reality" have certainly been fulfilled, and the market is now seeing just what is possible with iSCSI - especially when coupled with 10Gbps Ethernet.
What is your take on iSCSI? Do you use it in your environment today? Which applications do you use it for? Are you planning on near-term implementation of 10Gbps Ethernet, or have you already?
